FAQ
What are Bare Root trees?
Every year deciduous trees drop their leaves in autumn and begin their annual dormancy over winter. During this time we harvest the trees in our nursery using a specially designed plough that cuts the roots and removes the soil. We then process the trees and get them ready for their new owners to plant in their garden!
Are Bare Root trees easy to grow?
Yes, Bare Root trees are very easy to grow. Because they have been reared in the ground (as opposed to pots) they have very healthy root systems and branch structures which allows them to transplant exceptionally well.
Why should I choose MF Nursery Bare Root trees?
Aside from the fact that our Bare Root trees are harvested from the ground in peak health and appearance, our Bare Root trees are cheaper and larger than pot reared trees, as they have minimal production costs and are not restricted by their pot size, this means more value for you, the customer!
How should I care for my Bare Root trees?
It is important to keep your Bare Root trees moist at all times. Kept them out of direct sunlight and cover the roots when transporting them. If they need to be stored before planting, cover the roots with moist soil or potting mix and water daily. For best results plant them as soon as possible when you get them home. Plant them before August, water them regularly (particularly through the summer) and fertilise periodically from September to March.
